Hope for Liberia is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, founded in 2013, rooted in compassion and driven by purpose. It began when our founder, Eli Gbayee, took a small yet powerful step by purchasing flip-flops for two young girls in Liberia who walked barefoot. That simple act of kindness has blossomed into a movement—one that strives to provide basic necessities to the elderly, disabled, and youth across the nation.
Hope for Liberia is dedicated to uplifting rural communities by delivering essential resources and creating opportunities for growth. Our commitment to lasting change stems from a deep belief: that every individual, no matter where they are born or the circumstances they face, deserves the chance to succeed and thrive.
Hope for Liberia’s mission is to provide the poorest communities with food, clothing, clean water, and basic supplies, as well as access to medical care and educational opportunities. This will promote personal development and community involvement. In addition, we also want to work with churches to develop systems to build the body of Christ. We are committed to impacting lives one step at a time, with the motto, Together We Can Give Hope.
We believe in the promise of a brighter Liberia — a Liberia where every rural community is empowered, equipped with the resources and support to forge a future full of opportunity. We envision a nation where every child has access to quality education, where healthcare is a right for all, and where families can thrive with financial security. Together, by lifting communities from within, we are laying the foundation for sustainable growth — growth that will extend beyond today and into the generations to come.
Liberia is a country in West Africa, which was purchased by the American Colonization Society in the early 1800s for the resettlement of freed slaves. Over 100 years later, in 1989, Liberia entered a state of civil war where countless individuals were displaced from their homes, left starving and with little clothing and protection, orphaned, and in constant fear for their lives. This lasted 14 years, and approximately 250,000 lives were lost. Liberia's infrastructure was devastated, and its education system destroyed. Today the country is slowly rebuilding, but it remains the 4th poorest country in the world.
Hope for Liberia is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, committed to creating real, lasting change for Liberia’s most vulnerable communities. We are raising funds to support child education, provide clean water to rural communities, and deliver healthcare to those in need. But we can't do it alone.
This year, our goal is to provide scholarships to 45 deserving students. Your generous donations can make a significant difference by covering a child’s annual school fees and tuition, giving them the opportunity to pursue education and succeed in life.
Give EducationOur objective is to ensure sustainable access to clean water by installing water pumps in 19 towns. Each pump will require an investment of $2,500. Your support will provide safe drinking water to rural communities, greatly enhancing health outcomes and improving quality of life.
Give WaterOur goal is to send a 40-foot container of medical supplies to Liberia each year. Your generous donations will enable us to provide essential healthcare services, ensuring life-saving treatment and care for underserved communities.
